It's ok.... Rating

Discovery Girls is kinda bad. I'm a 11 and I wana know bout celebs, music, movies and fashion. They seem to think fashion is wearing pink and putting little clips in ur hair. If ur 8-10 its perfect, but for those of you who are 11 and up, try something a little more grown up. But overall this mag is OK, i must say its better than american girl though.

The Best Girls Magazine Ever!!! Rating

This is the best girls magazine I have ever read and I've looked at almost all of them. If you are a parent who actually takes the time to teach your daughter the values of kindness, respect, compassion, and responsibility, this is the magazine for you. My daughter is 11 years old and absolutely loves it. We ordered all the back issues that they had available. I have recommended this magazine to all my friends and family with daughters. I am what Dr. Laura refers to "My kids' Mom" and we are very selective about what our four children read, watch, and play. This magazine is for and about real, wholesome, down-to-earth girls. The only negative thing I can think about this magazine is that it is published only every other month. I am hoping that one day they will change to a monthly publication.

Not too good. Rating

This magazine makes me feel like I should have these things for hobbies: Fashion, accessories, and the "cool" factor--DG is pop-starred instead of unique. Some of the accessories and clothes just aren't for our age--who needs to wear fake braids at 12?

But the worst is that DG makes you feel like you must worship it. It is our lives, after all, not the business status of the magazine that DG should be focused on! I don't want to be tied up to DG with the "do it like we say" messages.

There is the random article about new hobbies, and talented 8-12 year olds. But mostly it's taken up with the things we -think- are cool--but we need something new!!

Instead, something more "you-oriented" would be American Girl--try it!

Discovery Girls Magazine is off the chain! Rating

Discovery Girls Magazine is really cool!
It has everything in it,from school to family to friends to pets.
My fav thing about this magazine is that I can actually read it w/o my mom looking though it first! It dosen't have all those people trying to show their skin or something like that. And they have REAL girls from REAL places that we live in. And it shows that you don't have to be a size 4 to fit in. I weigh 100 pounds, but it dosen't show because I have no bodyfat but all muscle.
I also like the mailbag because they don't just put the people's letters that say good things about them, but they also put in peoples conplaints and they try to fix them.

Please! Don't make a mistake, and pick up this magazine today!
GOD BLESS!
JESUS LOVES YA!

Great Magazine That's Wholesome, Yet Fun! Rating
March 29, 2002 Rating: 5.0 stars

Discovery Girls magazine is geared toward 8-12 year old girls, and the content and design of the magazine reflects that well. I appreciate the magazine for the fact that it highlights the achievements of regular girls and discusses everyday issues. Girls submit stories and poems, draw pictures, discuss different debate topics (e.g. "Is Brittney Spears a Good Role Model?") and there are no professional models! My daughter loves the fact that there are "reals girls" in the magazine and is thrilled by the possibility of being in it herself. I like this magazine because it is not your typical "teen" magazine in which boys and celebs seem to be the main focus. Discovery Girls focuses on everyday, ordinary girls and the issues they face in this transition into the teen years. Such topics include changing in front of other girls at school, dealing with bullies, when to wear a bra, and middle school fears. Of course there is the fun stuff too, such as embarrassing moments, crafts, contests, games, quizzes, fashion, and sports tips. I recommend it to mothers and daughters alike!
