This two-discs-for-the-price-of-one set offers an all-new 10-track album called World Groove, an enhanced CD featuring a live performance video by Egypt's Hisham Abbas and Jayrashree called "Nari Nari." It also includes a generous sampler culled from Putumayo's multi-volume "Groove" and "Lounge" series. As an exercise in hip global cool, these selections would be hard to match, let alone surpass. But many of them are too laid back and/or rhythmically sporadic to an inspire an unbroken sequence of sweaty dancing---although beaucoup de bopping in place on soignée velvet couches, cocktails in hand, will certainly occur. Even so, there are plenty of take-no-prisoners mixes. Turkish star Mustafa Sandal's "Aya Benzer" gets a chunky R&B remix from DJ Royal Gardens while Algerian raï superstar Cheb Mami goes urban on "Parisien du Nord." Pick hit: Belgian-Congolese girl-band Zap Mama seemingly channeling Eartha Kitt over a not-terribly-ladylike drum n¹ bass undertow on "Miss.Q.In." --Christina Roden

I must say, I first listened to this album because the cover looked interesting, and good thing. It drew me right in. I listened to the first song....great, lazy music with relaxing beats, good for nodding your head to. But the suprizing thing was, nearly evey track after #1 was good too. I highly suggest this for anyone looking for something new and fresh.
